FC Koln finally gets an important signal from the city of Cologne: The city wants to provide the Bundesliga club with new training grounds.
What happened?
FC Koln President Jörn Stobbe had recently increased the pressure on the city and politics. He announced that the club would definitely build the planned youth performance center (NLZ) and start construction in spring 2027.
Why is it important for FC Koln?
At the same time, the club needs 3 new training grounds. That's why Stobbe demanded: „We expect to discuss concrete places with the administration now. Time is ticking, and we are bursting at the seams.“
What's next?
A first decision will be made on July 2. The Cologne SPD faction has ensured that the FC topic will be on the agenda of the upcoming city council meeting. They are submitting a proposal that includes the extensive renovation of three sports fields in close proximity to the Geißbockheim.
