FC Köln have completed the signing of 18-year-old attacking talent Reigan Heskey from Manchester City. The English winger joins the Bundesliga side on a contract running until summer 2031, as announced on Friday.
What does the move mean for FC Köln?
Heskey arrives at a crucial moment. The club lost Jakub Kaminski this summer – the Polish winger joined another Bundesliga side. Heskey, son of former England international Emile Heskey, is expected to fill that void. „He ranks among the best attacking talents of his age group globally“, said FC managing director Thomas Kessler during the unveiling.
The young Englishman brings pace and dribbling to the right flank. In Manchester he broke into the U21 at 16 and made his first-team debut under Pep Guardiola in September 2025. „Talks with the club showed me my style of play fits perfectly here“, Heskey said.
Why does Heskey fit the FC Köln project?
The Geißböcke value versatile attackers. Heskey can play on either wing and dovetails with the team’s approach. Said El Mala, the club’s top scorer last season, is staying for now despite transfer speculation. „He could remain for another season despite rumours of a move“, insiders noted.
The deal mirrors last winter’s capture of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The defender arrived on loan and was later signed permanently. Heskey follows a similar path: from U21 straight into the first team.
What’s next for Heskey?
Pre-season training is already underway. Heskey will integrate quickly and could soon become a key player. „I see my next career step in Cologne“, he said. The club is banking on his development into a regular.
